Seed Packet Tutorial

Follow the steps below to create a seed packet keepsake.

  1. 1
Gather the following materials. We will start with the cardstock.
    • 6"x6" Cardstock (tasteful patterns in soft colors such as pink, blue, white, gold, and green preferred). Hobby Lobby sells packs of precut cardstock in a nice variety of colors and patterns.
    • 8" Ribbon (1/4" or 1/8" width, coordinate color with cardstock)
    • Seeds (Forget-Me-Not or Baby's Breath)
    • Label (can make your own from white cardstock)
    • Hole Punch
    • Pen
  2. 2
Fold in half diagonally from corner to corner.
  3. 3
Fold bottom corner over to opposite side, creating a parallel line to the bottom edge (see picture).
  4. 4
Fold other bottom corner to the opposite edge.
  5. 5
Open up the packet from the top and add seeds.
    • No need to add a full packet of seeds - about 20 seeds is fine.
    • Forget-Me-Not or Baby's Breath are preferred.
  6. 6
Fold top triangle flaps over to the front as shown.
  7. 7
Use a hole punch to add a hole to the top flap and the top folded side section as shown. Adding the hole here rather than close to the top through the back makes sure that the seeds are not able to fall out through the hole.
  8. 8
Make a tag with the following written on the front: "Planted on Earth, blooming in Heaven."
  9. 9
On the back of the tag, add brief information about the seeds. For example: "Forget-me-not seeds: plant in sun or shade."
  10. 10
Use a ribbon to tie the tag to the seed packet.
    • Need about 8 inches of ribbon, but less or more is fine.
    • 1/8" width works best, but 1/4" width works as well.
